Rochester Diocesan Board of Education

The Diocesan Board of Education meets three times a year in order to ensure its meets in statutory duties and delivers it key accountabilities as set out in the DBE Measure 1991.

The Board discharges its responsibilities through its sub-committees and working parties which are structured around its core areas of work:

SCHOOL EFFECTIVENESS COMMITTEE (SEC)

This committee is responsible for monitoring the performance of all our Church schools and academies. It considers the performance of our schools against both the Ofsted framework and SIAMS schedule and also analyses the attainment and progress data for schools in both the primary and secondary sector.

FINANCE AND RESOURCES COMMITTEE (FRC)

This committee is tasked with ensuring that the Board of Education's resources are used effectively and responsible on behalf of all our Church schools and academies. The committee is also responsible for ensuring that the Board as a registered charitable company meets its responsibilities set out in law by the Charity Commission.

SCHOOLS WORKING PARTY (SWP)

This group focuses on the planning of all events run by the Board of Education to promote the Christian distinctiveness of its Church schools. Examples of this work include our annual Church Schools' celebration days which take place in Rochester Cathedral and our work at promoting Religious Education and collective worship in schools across the diocese.
