As a recently appointed Associate, “fresh” from nineteen years of headship, I hope to bring my very current experience of leadership to the team and see working with the Rochester Diocese as a new phase of a successful and varied career in Education. Over the last thirty-two years I have worked in Primary Schools in Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire and Kent. As a class teacher I was fortunate to teach all primary ages 4-11 which has given me secure knowledge about the varied challenges involved. My headships, including an executive headship, were in three contrasting settings including an Infant school and a large, complex primary with high levels of pupil premium children where we took the school from special measures to good in under a year. I am passionate about school improvement and creating positive cultural shifts in schools to make them wonderful places to learn in.

My specialisms include:

Early Years (I have recently been part of two projects with Early Excellence focussing on Indoor and Outdoor provision)

Curriculum Design and Planning

Self-Evaluation

Coaching and Mentoring (particularly NQTs and new leaders at all levels)

Leadership – including being a National College Middle Leadership Development Facilitator

Teaching, Learning and Assessment
